Who Is Eligible

The Governors are determined to ensure that bursary assistance goes to where it is most needed. Bursaries are offered once the Bursar is satisfied that there is financial need and then in order of performance in the entrance examination.

How, then, is this determined?

Applicants for bursaries at 11 plus are required to complete a detailed statement of income form, together with supporting documentation. Parents are also asked to state the value of their property. The Bursar is also required to make a home visit, where a large award is likely to be necessary.

Information is gathered from a variety of sources, with the intention of building up a complete picture of family circumstances so that accurate judgements can be made of the amount of financial help that is required.

Parental income is re-assessed every year, so that if income increases then fee contribution increases also.

Donors who provide a half or full bursary may specify whether their gift should fund a boy or a girl. They may also choose to name the bursary.
