Trip in Tandem - Beth Shaw (2002)
In July, Old Girl Beth Kahle nee Shaw (2002) and her husband began an adventure of a lifetime, cycling from Cambridge to Cape Town on a tandem. Their journey will cover the whole length of Africa, up to 30,000km, and will spend almost 2 years on the road.
After BGS Beth studied Earth Sciences at Oxford for four years and alongside her husband, they have just completed PhDs at the University of Cambridge.
Studying geology has allowed me to indulge in two of my greatest passions: travel and communication. My husband, who is South African, is a wonderful photographer and specialises in wildlife and landscapes.
We are passionate about conservation, particularly in Africa and have decided to combine our interests, travelling by bicycle through a continent, and documenting our journey as a blog and as a series of illustrated articles for Africa Geographic.
We will be exploring areas that are seldom visited, photographing the landscapes, wildlife and culture that we encounter along the way.
We hope that you will follow us on our adventure at http://www.tandemafrica.com/Tandem_Africa/Welcome.html .
