The London Branch

The London Branch of the Old Girls' Association meet once a year - usually on the Saturday following Founders' Day. It was established in 1936 as a way for south-based Old Girls to socialise and keep in touch with news and developments at BGS.

The Headmistress always tries to be at the meeting, to give an update on events at BGS. It was Miss Lester who first introduced a special treat for the lasses in the south - a hunk of tasty Lancashire cheese fresh from Bury market; now Mrs Georghiou continues the tradition and we all look forward to that taste of ‘home'.

Although meetings are well-attended we would like to spread the word and attract new members, including students and recent graduates now living in the London area. The atmosphere at meetings is informal, friendly and welcoming. Age differences seem to melt away when we start to compare and reminisce about shared experiences like the school rules and the dreaded uniform!

The next meeting of the London Branch is on Saturday 5th May, venue to be confirmed.

The Development Office would be happy to help you organise a reunion group - please contact michelle@bgsdev.demon.co.uk .
