The London Branch Reunion Lunch

The London Branch of the Old Girls' Association

Mrs Georghiou and I travelled to London on the day after Founders' Day. The event was held at the Hughes Parry Hall in Cartwright Gardens.

A buffet lunch was provided and this was followed by the Annual General Meeting. Sue Durrans - Chairman, Jane Belfield - Secretary, Marilyn McKeever - Treasurer and the committee were re-elected unanimously.

The accounts were presented and members were told that the Association was financially secure.

There was then a tribute to Vicky Shepherd who had died in February. Vicky had been an inspirational member of the Old Girls' Association and a larger than life character. She will be sadly missed.

Mrs Georghiou then spoke about the excellent A level and GCSE results, the joint production  of Oliver, the inaugural Founders' Day Concert, the visit of Old Girls who had been at school in 1939 when war broke out, the death of Miss Ena Lord who had seen all 8 BGS Headmistresses and the building programme including the Lecture Theatre.

It was good to see five of our youngest Old Girls at the meeting. They are all studying in London at present and took time out from their busy exam schedule to join us.

Any Old Girls who are based in and around London are most welcome to become members of the London Branch. Details can be obtained from the Development Office or from me at d-robinson16@sky.com
