Sixth Form Centre
Having completed our new Kindergarten and Pre-School, the next stage of our building project is The Bury Grammar Sixth Form Centre for the students of both schools, which will utilise the space vacated by the Kindergarten.
New Lecture Theatre and Drama Studio - Phase 1
This university-style feature with tiered seating and up-to-date presentation system will accommodate all of our Sixth Form students, with extra capacity for guests, enabling us to host a year-round programme of productions, events and visiting speakers for the Schools and the wider community.
The benefits of the Lecture Theatre will be manifold, providing a dynamic, pre-university experience for both boys and girls, as well as giving the school a valuable space for music and drama, which are such vital elements of our Schools' extra-curricular programme.
A resource such as this undoubtedly holds potential for reaching out to the local community by providing a facility which is unparalleled in the area, and this can serve only to benefit both the students of this school and members of the community at large.
Looking forward
Upon completion of the lecture theatre, Phase 2 will be to create seminar rooms and study areas, and a central Sixth Form entrance and exclusive refectory. These components will allow our staff and students to make full use of flexible study space, state-of-the-art IT provision and quiet study areas for individual research and learning, as well as taking advantage of a modern social environment equipped with the best facilities.
We aim to provide the very best of both worlds for our students: the independence of college life within one of the finest academic institutions in the country. The Bury Grammar Schools' Sixth Form experience will provide a challenging and exciting stepping stone from school into the future.
Naming opportunities for this new facility will be available. Please contact the Development Officer, Francine Healey, for further details (francine@bgsdev.demon.co.uk / 0161 764 1733).
