The Silver Swan Challenge

We are delighted to announce that the 2012 Silver Swan Challenge will take place on Friday 25th May at  Rossendale Golf Club.

The annual Old Boys V Old Girls golf match is a most enjoyable occasion with plenty of banter and cheerful good humour.

The match will take the usual format of match play, keenly played as a fourball, consisting of two Old Girls and two Old Boys, with prizes for the best score from a man and best score from a lady and individual Nearest The Pin Prizes.

Refreshments will be available from 1.00pm and the tee will be reserved from 2.15 pm until 3.15 pm.  The cost will be £33.00 which will include green fees and an evening meal prior to the presentation.

We warmly invite you to a fun filled afternoon and evening.

Please contact Pam Brown (nee Wilson) for more information and to book your place.

The 2010 Trophy

The Annual Silver Swan Challenge match between the Old Girls and Old Boys was held on Friday 25th June at Walmersley Golf Club.

Following a spell of very hot and dry weather the course proved to be quite difficult to play, but the matches were played in an excellent spirit with both teams offering encouragement to their opponents.

As usual the competition was match play and played as a fourball consisting of two ‘Old Girls\' and two ‘Old Boys\', with prizes for the best score from a lady, best score from a man and a Nearest the Pin individual prize.  The five teams of four matches and a one-on-one match were hard fought under Stableford Rules.

Best score from a lady went to Liz Dyson with Runner up Hilary Ankers.

Best score from a man went to John Dyson with Runner up Ray Swinnerton.

Nearest the pin were Liz Cheetham and John Wild.

Sadly, the final scores were Old Boys 332 and Old Girls 302, so the ladies were not able to retain the Silver Swan Trophy.

There was a most enjoyable presentation dinner at the Golf Club following the last match. The Headmistress presented the Silver Swan Trophy to the Boys\' Captain and the Headmaster presented the Mucky Duck Trophy to Viv Rigby.

The Old Girls will take care of the trophy for 1 year but fully intend not to win it next year as the Silver Swan looks much better in Bobby\'s study!

A warm invitation is extended to all golfers to join us next year. Please contact Pam Brown pam@inwood.co.uk  for further details.
