Football

The Old Boys Football Club is a member of the Lancashire Amateur League and has four teams with fixtures every Saturday during the season, August to April.

They train every Tuesday night during the winter months on the Astroturf between 7pm and 9pm September onwards.

During July and August training takes place at Buckley Wells on Tuesdays and Thursdays again between 7pm and 9pm.

The season commences late August, after playing several friendlies and can last into May depending on the weather and the state of the pitches. They rarely have matches cancelled at home due to the ongoing maintenance programme that ensures we have the best playing surfaces in the league.

Although they have a percentage of associate members in the club the vast majority of players are Old Boys of the school. Ages range from 17 through to 50.

Their social scene includes a Vice Presidents day when all past players are invited along to the club for a buffet lunch (and a couple of halves ) followed by a trip down to Buckley Wells to watch the matches before returning to the club for another couple of halves!

During the season they have many socials and fundraisers including:-

  • Race nights
  • Christmas Curry
  • Boxing Day friendlies
  • Dinner Dance
  • A Presentation Evening in May with a guest speaker / entertainer.
  • Other socials are organised according to demand.

A weekly newsletter is sent by e-mail to club members to keep them up to date with fixtures, results, socials and any other internal matters.
