Deceased - Steve Toft, 1965 Leaver

Steve Toft was at BGS from the age of eight until he went to St. Andrews University  in 1965.  Doctor Maier had been his inspiration at school, and he graduated MA Hons in French and German in 1969. After teaching in Bury for a year, and in Germany for a further year, he  went to Belgium, where he taught in the School of Interpreting at Mons University. He was still there, as Head of the English Department, when he was taken ill with oesophageal cancer at the end of last year. He died on 13th April, and leaves a widow, Babette, and a son, Frederick, in Belgium.
