Chrissie Gittins (OG1972) – Children’s Poetry Collection
I'm immeasurable pleased to say that my third children's poetry collection The Humpback's Wail (just published) has been selected by the Poetry Book Society as one of the two top 'choices' for the Children's Poetry Bookshelf, Summer Term 2010. As the re-published Now You See Me, Now You ... was also a 'choice' for the Spring Term 2010 this make a CPB hat trick for my three children's collections.
Humpback will be launched Saturday 24th April 2 - 4pm at the gorgeous Grade II listed Georgian Manor House Library, 34 Old Road, Lee, London SE13 5SY. Performance, signing, themed biscuits (whales, frogs, bats and moons!) and music provided by children from St Margaret's Primary School, Lee - who will play their 'favourite tunes'! Free event but please book places beforehand as space is limited - phone 0208-852-0357 and ask for Manor House Library.
I'll also be reading from Humpback at the Hay Festival Thursday June 3rd at 2.30pm.
Other good news (my cup runneth over!) - I've been appointed Writer-in-Residence with the Borough of Lewisham, I'm to be Writer-in-Residence on the Shetland Islands for the month of September, and my recent adult poetry collection I'll Dress One Night as You is in Salt's top 20 bestsellers for the last financial year.
Thank you for all your support.
My very best wishes,
Chrissie
