Bursaries
A School for All
Increasing access
Our Bursary Scheme allows full access to the Bury Grammar Schools at age 11 plus to boys and girls of high academic ability who would benefit from the education we offer but whose parents cannot afford fees.
Currently we can offer assistance to approximately 15 children each year, but we receive over 100 applications. We aim to fulfil the aspirations of as many of these children as possible.
Fulfilling our Founders' vision
We receive no Government funding and must look to our own resources to extend bursary provision. Through our commitment to the Bursary Scheme we continue to fulfil our original Founders' aims of providing an outstanding education to boys and girls regardless of means. Our Governors today work steadfastly to ensure that their legacy continues.
The gift of education
The children who benefit from our Bursary Scheme are often amongst our highest achievers and in their turn these talented children make a valid contribution to society and the community we serve.
Your gift: a lifelong opportunity for a young person
With support we could offer many more bursary places within our Schools. We are seeking corporate sponsorship and also appealing to friends, parents and alumni to help provide the best education possible for a bright young child who is eager to benefit from the gift of learning.
Please consider part-funding a child through our Schools by providing a named bursary place. However, any commitment you are able to make, either as a one-off donation or a monthly contribution will help provide a young child with the very best start in life.
