Meetings for 2012-2013
a) Golf Day - Pam Brown had forwarded Diana details of the 2012 Golf Day. This year's Silver Swan Challenge is to take place on Friday 25th May at Rossendale Golf Club. The match will take the usual format of match play, played as a fourball, consisting of two Old Boys and two Old Girls, with prizes for the best score from a man and best score from a lady and individual Nearest the Pin Prizes.
b) Reunion Lunch 2012 - The Reunion lunch is scheduled for 29th September 2012, and groups from 10, 30, 50 and 60 years ago have expressed an interest. Diana confirmed that we will be using the same caterer as last year.
c) Founders' Day 2013 - The date will be confirmed once it has been agreed. It is likely to be either the 3rd or 10th May 2013.
The Dorothy Lester Memorial Scholarship
This is to be awarded to Bethany Reed. Diana confirmed that Bethany is most grateful for the award as she wishes to travel to Cologne in Germany for 2-3 weeks. She hopes to visit the local attractions. She has a penpal in Germany which she feels will be helpful when applying to do voluntary work in a charity shop or school while she is there.
Bethany wishes to study German and Psychology at University. She will be required to spend 1 year in Germany as part of her course - so this travel scholarship will be a very helpful experience before she embarks on the course.
The Record
In Kay Chappell's absence, Diana requested that all material for the Record be emailed to Kay as soon as possible and thanked her for the wonderful job she does in producing The Record each year.
The upkeep of Miss Kitchener's Grave
Amy Cole and Helen Murphy, two Old Girls who live within the vicinity of Miss Kitchener's grave, kindly agreed to maintain it. The local Parish Council were contacted to find out whether they were able to carry out any maintenance work and BGS have since agreed to fund the regular upkeep of the grave by a local firm. This news was well received by those present.
Any Other Business
There being no other business, Diana thanked all those present for attending and closed the meeting at 7.20pm.
